Do you recall when you were young, just before you started school? The days seemed long… getting easily bored. Your room was filled with toys, books & games but yet, you sat there crying that you had nothing to do!
Then, you start school… that is when life hits the gas pedal and flashes before your eyes!
We all heard the saying “stop and take the time to smell the roses”. Is it that simple? I am sure you will agree with me that it is difficult to take some time out of our busy schedule to simply sit back & relax. Have you ever stopped and asked yourself, what have I done for me today?
For me, even when I sit back and try to relax, my brain goes 100 miles/hour –food prep, work related issues, house chores, laundry, money, outdoors chores, the kids, the pets, appointments – it never stopped, until the day I turned 40…
Is it easy? No! I still have to stop and tell myself that things can wait. It’s OK if the laundry is not fully done by the end of the weekend. It’s also OK if we need to order take out in the middle of the week because dinner did not quite turn out as planned. It’s not easy to do when you are someone that like things that are organised and under control. However, letting go does not mean that things are no longer organised and under control.
My journey to self discovery is not yet complete. I am continuously working on who I am and continuing to study towards some goals I have set for myself. It does make me anxious at times and that’s OK! Nothing is perfect…
So, what have you done for yourself today?
Sometimes, you just need to take some time to go out, take a walk and enjoy the scenery… even if it rains!
