As you all know, I love the cook and try new things in my test kitchen. I would often purchase some sprouts or microgreens at the grocery store and found that they were expensive –it seems that everything is getting more and more expensive these days! We had also noticed that it was often difficult to get fresh product. Who want to get home and need to eats sprouts in one sitting… not me! That is when we launched ourselves in learning about starting our own greens and sprouts. Cream of Tomato & Basil

It happens on occasion that I have left over veggies in my fridge.  Usually, I will either make a big vegetable soup or roast them with chicken  , depending on the type of vegetables.  This week, I had a bunch of tomatoes left over and I had no idea what to make with them.  Then it hit me, I got this brand new blender for my  birthday… why not roast them with garlic & basil and pop them in the blender to make a creamy soup!

Veggies… hidden or raw, your kids will enjoy these!

Eat your vegetables…  is a phrase we often hear parents say to their kids.  On my end, when my kids  were young, I always prone quality over quantity.  What do I mean by this?  Well, I would rather have my kid eat 1 or 2 pieces of vegetable I had put in their plates then to have a mountain of veggies and for them not wanting to touch a piece.  Result:  my kids always preferred veggies over fruits!

In this video,  I will share with  you some of the things I did when  my kids were young to ensure they would have veggies in their daily food consumption.  Being a young mother,  the important things I told myself was, don’t give up!  It took years for my son to enjoy broccoli.  Now, it is one of his favorite vegetable.

Lentil Vegetable Soup

Well, the new Canadian Food Guide is out and lentils are on top of the list along with beans & peas!  To be honest, we were huge meat fans in this house.  This changed after my health issues at the end of 2018.  To be able to find alternatives, we turned a lot to protein substitutes, such as lentils.  Furthermore, my son now has a girlfriend and she is vegetarian!  You can imagine my excitement on being able to learn more on vegetarian cuisine and test recipes in my kitchen!  Why not start with a soup that can be a meal?
