Home…for 24 hours!

Wow, that was one of the quickest trip we took.  Left Saturday morning at 5am, pitch dark and my so cold (-20°C)!  This was the first trip me and my husband took without the kids (well, young adults) so this just added on to my usual  ”Travel apprehension” list.

Even though I’m an early bird, 5am felt too early, so got to get a little bit of shut eye which eased the nervousness.  Eventually, I woke up to this beauty… I knew then, this will be a great 24h!

Sun coming up over Quebec’s fields… the car needs a window washing

With the warm weather we had in the last few weeks, most of the snow melted on Montreal’s South shore.  I was not ready for the cold that greeted us when I stepped out the door from the house.  If I only knew that was a preview for what was to come later in the day!

The sun was shinning all the way until we got to about an hour from the border of New-Brunswick.   Did someone say wind?

It was so windy with drifting snow, felt like winter was back all over again!

So, with this type of weather, you must have guessed it, my nerves were just in a ball… all I’m thinking is that we will arrive home soon, not much road left.  However, the wind and drifting snow made us slow down due to the visibility. The joys of traveling during Winter time!

Then, we see it!!

HOME SWEET HOME…

I don’t think anything prepared us for when we stepped out of the car though.  If we thought it was cold when we left our house, it’s even colder there (-35°C). Oh, how have I missed home!

24 hours is not enough to have time to complete everything we would like to do.  We did, though, in 24h, try to make the most of it.  We had the time to: see my Mother-in-law, spend time with one of my aunts (which gave me a blanket she knitted herself… love it),  went to have a meal with my Husband at Station 127 , had the chance to talk with my best friend and spent the evening with my parents talking around some cheese, crackers and of course, wine.  What more can I ask for?

I am looking forward to share more with you as I travel back home.  From going out to take a coffee with my parents at the local coffee shop or taking you to my favorite jeweler in town, I will share with you some of the best places to see (or shop) when going to my hometown of Edmundston.

Until I can share more with you about back home… for me, this is one of my favorite  architecture.  I get to pass it every time we are on our way to my parent’s house.

…a must see

This trip was a quick one… but we had the chance to make the most of it!
