Avocado, the fruit that thinks it’s a vegetable! Why? Well, it is mostly found in sushi, salads & dips which are all mostly made of, well you guessed it, veggies. It’s also not sweet like a fruit, but yet can make one of the best fruit smoothies. Avocado, they are naturally good… and have been my best support in weight loss!
For those of you who had the chance to read my previous posts, I have lost 14 pounds since the beginning of the year. If you are wondering, I did not diet. I simply changed some bad eating habits. The road to self discovery was enlightened by one of my very dear friend (during an evening between Christmas & New Years where food was very abundant). New Year, new beginning! No processed foods! No sugar! Mainly meats, fruits and vegetables. In all these changes, came several cravings. This is when I discovered, the multi-function avocado!
I enjoyed avocado before but my oh my it all changed when I started this approach. Seriously, avocado became my go to for almost everything. You want a dip, do guacamole… with bacon chips. You want deviled eggs, mix your egg yolk with avocado. Tuna or chicken salad, mix meat with avocado, salt, pepper and voilà. I found on Pinterest a bacon wrap guacamole stuffed chicken recipe that is simply amazing.
The only down side, the fat content. However, the types of fat found in the avocado are mono and polyunsaturated and not saturated or trans fats. Not only it contains the ”good” fat but it contains over 20 vitamins and minerals that are good for your body inside and out. Out? Let’s not forget that some of the best facial skin masks are based out of avocado fruit and oils (I sound like a commercial).
Avocado is not the only thing that helped lose the weight. It was, however, the food that helped me get through the cravings of not eating anything processed. I have learned to use avocado in ways I would have never thought before. Avocado, have one today!
